As mentioned earlier we investigate possibilities for shipping cargo through
port of Caucedo.
The Logistics Cluster recommends that Santo Domingo is used as the
primary entry point for humanitarian relief destined for Haiti, while
Port au Prince airport is operating at diminished capacity

Immediate needs: Search and rescue; emergency health; water and
sanitation; shelter ; food; logistics and telecommunications .
For relief goods there is a special Shipping Lines' instruction:
“Having into consideration time needed to obtain Customs clearance of
Cargo Donations, which some times takes over 60 days , please be
informed that from now on , booking agent must notify shipping agent at port
of discharge to obtain from the Consignee a confirmation letter that the extra costst that could arise as a consequence of the above mentioned situation, demurrage, detention, cargo abandoned, etc., will be fully paid by the Consignee(s), before closing / confirming the cargo.
If consignee refuses this responsibility, then the Booking agent shall obtain written confirmation from shipper.
Booking agent , under no circumstances, can accept donations without
written confirmation from Consignee and/ or shipper “
